Conley

The Conleys originated from Lavey, County Caven, Ireland. James Conley my ggg grandfather and his wife Ellen nee Rudde, with their children, Peter, Catherine and Mary arrived at Port Misery in 1840 on board the brig "Thirteen". On the 16th September 1859 James bought 458 acres at Salisbury. The sum paid was 458 Pounds sterling. A pound an acre!

James died in 1876 and is buried at St Augustine's Catholic Cemetery at Salisbury. The inscription on the grave reads "Condley James d 6-2-1876 age 78. Arrived in the Colony in AD1840."
