Peter married (1) Jane BROWN in 1826 in Cork County, Ireland. Jane died about 1837.
Jane Brown was the mistress of Capt Townsend who lived near the City of Cork and continued to be as long as Peter Hunter lived with her.
It is believed that Peter Hunter abandoned his first 2 children and whilst in gaol for this offence, he escaped with the help of the gaol keepers daughtr who became his next wife.
Thomas and Cecelia lived with their Aunt, Ellen Hoskins, in Ireland, they later came to South Australia.
